Find forgotten subscriptions on your bank statement

Open your banking app, search your last 3 months for the words below, then look back a full year for yearly plans. It takes a few minutes, and you don't have to share anything with anyone.

1. Get your statements ready

  1. Open your banking app or online banking for every card and account you pay with, including cards you rarely use. A subscription can sit on an old card for years.
  2. Search for each word in the table below. Most banking apps have a search box for transactions. No search box? Open your last 3 monthly statements instead.
  3. Look back 12 months to catch yearly plans. They only show up once a year, so they're the easiest to forget.
  4. Write down every repeat charge: the name, the amount, and how often it comes.

Quick answers

What is apple.com/bill on my statement?

It's a charge from Apple: an app, an in-app purchase, or a subscription like iCloud+ or Apple Music. Apple can group several purchases into one charge, so one line might cover more than one thing. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com to see what it was for.

I found a charge but can't find the subscription. Now what?

Check whether someone in your family bought it, whether it's on another email address you use, or whether it was paid through PayPal or an app store. If you still don't recognize it, contact the company, or your bank or card company.

Why don't I see my streaming service on my statement?

It may be included in your phone, internet or TV bill, or billed through Apple, Google or Amazon instead of directly. Check those bills and lists too.
