The short version: TailTab helps you keep track of your subscriptions. It's free, with no card needed. Prices and savings are estimates, and reminders can occasionally be late or missed, so always check with the company before you decide something. You own what you add, and you can download it or delete your account anytime. Please use TailTab fairly and don't try to break it.

Who we are

TailTab (tailtab.ca) is a business based in British Columbia, Canada ("TailTab", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using TailTab, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

What TailTab does

TailTab is a tool for tracking your own subscriptions. You add them (by typing them in, or by having a bill read for you), and TailTab adds up what they cost, reminds you about free trials, promos and renewals, alerts you to price changes, and points out possible ways to save.

TailTab doesn't connect to your bank, doesn't cancel or change subscriptions for you, and isn't connected to the companies whose services you track. Company and service names belong to their owners. TailTab isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Your account

• You need to be at least the age of majority where you live (18 or 19, depending on your province or territory).
• Use an email address you own, and keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
• Each account is for one person. Only add your own subscriptions (or your household's, if they're fine with it).
• Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone else got into your account.

Price

TailTab is free to use, with no card needed. If we ever offer optional paid extras, they'll come with clear prices, and you'll only pay if you choose to. We'll never charge you without your agreement.

Prices, savings and advice are estimates

• The plan prices TailTab lists are the companies' listed prices in Canadian dollars, before tax. We check them regularly, but companies can change prices at any time, and your own price may be different (for example because of a promo, a bundle, or taxes).
• Savings are estimates. Tips like "a cheaper plan could work for you" are suggestions, not promises.
• TailTab isn't financial, legal or tax advice. Before you cancel, switch or change anything, check the details with the company (prices, terms, commitments and cancellation rules). The decision, and the result, are yours.

Reminders and alerts

We work hard to send reminders and price change alerts on time, but email can be delayed, filtered as spam or missed, and reminders depend on the dates you enter. Please don't rely on TailTab alone: you're still responsible for cancelling or changing a subscription before you're charged. We're not responsible for charges from a reminder that was late, missed, or based on a wrong date.

Reading your bill

• This feature uses AI to read a bill, receipt or email you choose and suggest the subscriptions on it. It can make mistakes, so always check what it found before you add it.
• Only upload your own bills. Don't upload anyone else's information without their permission.
• To keep it fair and affordable, there are limits on how many bills you can have read each day and each month. We may change these limits.

Using TailTab fairly

TailTab is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't:

• try to get into other people's accounts or information, or into the systems behind TailTab;
• overload TailTab, or use bots, scripts or scraping to access it (except as your browser normally does);
• copy, resell or rebuild TailTab, or its price lists, as your own product;
• use it for anything illegal, or to upload anything harmful (like viruses);
• put sensitive information in subscription names (like card or account numbers). TailTab doesn't need it.

If someone breaks these terms, or puts TailTab or other people at risk, we may suspend or close their account. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and explain why.

Your information

What you add to TailTab is yours. You let us store and use it only to run TailTab for you, as our privacy policy describes. You can download it or delete it at any time on the "Your account" page.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve TailTab, without owing you anything for them.

Our name and content

The TailTab name, Tab the beaver, and TailTab's design, text and code belong to us. Please don't use them in a way that suggests you're us or that we endorse you.

Links to other websites

TailTab links to other websites, like the companies' own price pages and calendar services. We don't control them, and their own terms and privacy policies apply there.

Changes and availability

• We keep improving TailTab, so features may change, be added or be removed.
• We aim to keep TailTab running at all times, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during updates or if one of our providers has a problem.
• If we ever close TailTab for good, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, so you can download your information.

Our responsibility to you

TailTab is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that prices, savings or reminders will be accurate or complete.

To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses (like missed savings, or subscription charges you could have avoided), or for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control. If we are responsible for a loss, our total responsibility is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before it happened, or $100.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your province or territory that can't be given up by agreement.

Ending your account

You can stop using TailTab and delete your account at any time on the "Your account" page. Deleting it removes your information as described in our privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using TailTab after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

How we contact you

We'll send messages about your account and these terms by email, to the address on your account. If your email address changes, let us know at [email protected].

If TailTab changes hands

If TailTab becomes part of a company we set up (for example, when we incorporate), or is sold or merged with another business, we may transfer these terms and your account to the new owner. They'll have to keep following these terms and our privacy policy, and we'll tell you.

Which laws apply

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If there's a disagreement, please contact us first: most things can be sorted out quickly. You can still use any right your own province's consumer protection laws give you to take a dispute to your local courts.

The legal bits

These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about TailTab. If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
